A group of researchers have used International Geodiversity Day to set out four Geodiversity Challenges that need to be tackled if society is to build a more sustainable future.
In the article, published by Nature Geoscience, they outline how policy makers and the geoscience community need to focus on Recognition, Understanding, Conservation, and Utilization of geodiversity. The authors go on to say that "solutions to the threats facing nature will not be as strong as we wish if geodiversity is forgotten by scientists and policymakers, and not acknowledged by the general public."
